Lynam

1. When were Lynam formed as a band and how did you all meet up in the first place?

We formed in 2001 in Birmingham, Alabama. I was watching a band play at a local bar called Billy's and met David (drums). He was there hangin' out and we hit it off. He needed a singer for a show his band had coming up the following week. I went and did the show and had a lot of fun so we started playing together. Mark (bass) was playing in the band that we were watching at Billy's and we thought he was great, so we recruited him for our new band. Things started happening really fast after we formed and the next thing we knew, we were playing 6 to 7 nights a week every week. We didn't take much time off for the first couple of years. We have released 3 Albums so far and they are available world wide through www.cdbaby.com.

2. Who have been the main influence to the band musical and where do the band gets it's idea for the lyrics, are they taken out of personal experiences?

Me and David are both influenced by bands from the 80's like Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, The Cult, Def Leppard etc. My biggest influence for song writing is Mutt Lange and my favorite guitarist is Steve Vai. Mark's favorite band is Steely Dan. He loves everything they have ever done. He doesn't really know a lot about the whole 80's rock movement, but we have great chemistry even though our influences are on opposite sides of the spectrum. All of the lyrics come from personal experience or things that have touched us in some way. Some of the lyrics are just goofy stories that we feel the need to tell. We have a lot of fun playing together and we are all 3 like brothers.

3. The band have just put out it's third album, if Im not mistaken, how well have it done so fare and are the band happy with the way it turned out in the first place?

We are all extremely pleased with the new record "Life In Revearse". It has been selling really well and getting great feedback from around the world. We feel that this is our strongest record that wev'e done so far.

4. The new album has so fare been released within the States, any plans on releasing it outside like in Europe, Canada and Asia?

Yes, we would like to secure a distribution deal overseas. For now, it is available at www.cdbaby.com for everyone.

5. Are there at this moment in time plans on touring in support of the album or is it all up to how well it sells?

We are currently touring behind this album. We have been opening for bands such as Puddle Of Mudd, Live, Fuel, Saliva and many others to promote the new album. You can check out our tour dates at www.pollstar.com

6. Have there been any label interest within the States and what about outside like from Europe and Japan?

Yes, we have been aproached by a few labels in the US that we may wind up working with in the future. As far as outside the US, we have been talking with a company that might possibly release us overseas. We would love to be able to reach as many people as possible with our music.

7. Whats the bands personal point of view on todays music scene as seen on MTV and heard on the mainstream radio stations?

I'm excited about some of the new bands on MTV and radio. For a long time music was just really angry and the shows were boring to go watch. The new breed of rock music is exciting. You have bands like Jet, Velvet Revolver, and The Darkness making music fun again. When I was growing up and a big band came to town, they played in the Arena that holds about 20,000 people. When music stopped being fun and got too serious and depressing, people stopped going to shows. Most of the biggest bands of the 90's played small theaters and clubs. I think people want to see arena rock again. People are ready for larger than life shows again.

8. Is it easy to get gigs to play in the area where the band hails from and what about air play on the local radio stations?

Yes, it's easy for us to get gigs in our hometown. We have a huge fanbase in the Southeastern United States. We also get a lot of radio play on several stations in the states.

9. Whats the current future plans for the band at this moment in time, any plans on writing on new material already ?

We already have our next album written. We plan to go in the studio and record it at the end of August. The next record will be called "Slave To The Machine". The songs are like if AC/DC, The Cult, Motley Crue, Guns N Roses and Def Leppard formed a band together. We're excited about it already.

10. Any last words here in the end to the fans/people out there?
