Blue Tears

1. Blue Tears recently inked a deal with Suncity Records, to release the bands never released second album along with alot of other songs from the bands past. When were the deal made a reality and did you at anytime have any second thoughts about releasing this material and were there any other offers before Suncity Records came about with their offer?

We came up with the final deal about a month ago...Suncity are great people...can't stress that enough...I have had this material for years...but only now do I feel comfortable releasing the music...don't know why...it's just time.  I had been asked about it before from other companies in the past, but it just didn't seem like the right thing to do at the time...now is the time.

2. Tell us a little about the songs feature on this release and are there any tracks on the album, which is a favorite above the others. Also take us through how you normal approach a song when you write on, are they from personal things in life?

The songs were recorded between 1989 and 1992...some for the first Blue Tears record (which we didn't use) and some for the second, which was never finished.

These songs and the recordings mean alot to me...some were written before we even had a deal.  My favorites on CD1 (there are 2 being released this year) are probalby Midnight Train...Rock You to Heaven...this stuff was recorded in my home studio...and back then there was no digital...on Pro Tools...etc....just tape...And yes, I do write from a very personal perspective...some of the songs are for fun...and some are much deeper...some of them just feel good...hard to explain...the majority of it comes from real life experiences that have happened to me or someone close to me.

3. Just to step back in time, what eventually happened with Blue Tears after the debut was released and do you think that the back got the needed support from the MCA and looking back on the debut album are you happy with the overall result and do you time from time have a listen at it?

I just listened to the record today...I like it, the production is seriously overdone...the drums and vocals are huge...too huge.  I think MCA was great...no problems with MCA...let's just say that the business end of things got out of control and we literally had no choice but to wait it out...by the time the smoke cleared...music had drastically changed.

4. After the era of Blue Tears, what did you all went on to do and are you still in contact with the rest of the gang and what are they currently up to these days and are they aware of the new album coming out?

They are aware of the new record...Michael Spears is working on a record with Bryan Hall...their band is called Mayday Ground...you've got to hear it...it's just fantastic...we have stayed in touch all this time...especially Mike and I...he just lives a few miles from where I live.

5. You ventured back to the scene in 2003 with a new band Attraction 65 along with Blue Tears bassist Mike Spears. Where Blue Tears were all about loud guitars and big chorus, Attraction 65 are a more mellowed down affair and your voice has a perfect match with the Attration 65 album and quite difference from Blue Tears. did it come natural the way you used your voice/vocals on Attraction 65 and what's the story behind the making of Attraction 65?

In more ways than one...Attraction 65 was blue tears getting back together, without using the name...the music didn't sound the same...and i didn't want people to expect the blue tears sound, so we had a new name.  Attraction 65 was a more serious record...serious topics...things I needed to get off my chest.  As far as my voice...my voice is my voice...it was always deep...the blue tears songs were just written very high...I sounded thin high...so i started writing them lower in the verse, so the chorus would be high, but low enough that I could really belt it out.

6. Are there any plans for a second Attraction 65 album in the working and have a date been set for a possible release and are Attraction 65 where the main priority lies or is it seen more as a side project?

Attraction 65 is where I exorcise my demons (more or less)...it's where I bear the deepest thoughts...feelings...etc.....blue tears is big, fun music. I love them both.  There will probably be another Attraction 65 release.

7. Now the big question would be, will there be a brand new Blue Tears album in the future and will all original four members be a part of it and what can we exspect from a new Blue Tears album, a return to the hey days or will there be a more modern touch to it and have there been any talk with labels interested in signing Blue Tears on for a new album?

Yes, I have had some label interest...I can just say that you will have your answer very shortly...can't go into great detail about it right now...I have a feeling you'll be hearing from us sooner than you think.

8. Just to take a step away from the music for a while. You have said in recent interview that you are a big fan of Married With Children, which I got to admit is also one of my all time favorite comedy serie. What is it about Married With Children, that seems to have such an impact on nearly everyone who has seen it, that it has been such a big success and what's your one special favorite chapter of the serie that stands out from the others?

There are so many that stand out...I love all of it...seen it all several times...wouldn't miss it....I love Al...Peg...and yes...Christina Applegate...but of course, above all, i love my wife...ha ha.

9. What's your personal point of view on todays music seen on MTV & heard on the mainstream radiostations and how the music industry are handling the whole business?

Well...MTV is history...what we see today is not MTV...where's the music? It's just mindless now.  Radio is pretty bad as well...there is a fantastic radio station here in Nashville called JACK...they play whatever they want to whenever they want to...they may play the Scorpions...into Kiss...into the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack...into Van Halen...hopefully this will catch on everywhere.

10. What does the current future plans hold for you on a musically level. Are you busy/involved in any new projects, beisde Blue Tears & Attraction 65 and do you care to give us an inside look on what these projects are about?

Sure...check out jessmarie.com  .....her name is Jessica Marie...incredible singer...I'm her guitarist at the moment...writing songs for her as well....and I'm working on writing a new album that should come out later this summer.

11. Any last words for the people/fans out there here in the end?

Just look for something big from us this summer...big fat choruses...big guitars...big drums...better than ever for us....hope to see you there....take care.
